Funniest thing happened....
Okay - so I don't know if I shared this or not, but I was able to post to my blog for updates on my trip - while on my trip - at the internet cafe' at the conference. What I know I didn't share with you was the internet cafe's on every corner here. Actually Norm remarked that there was a 7-11 on EVERY street corner - and there is. However, every three stores there is an internet cafe'. It's amazing - and they are always busy. DSL and all.
So - I went to this one that was open LATE to sign on and update the blog, check some emails (which was harder to do here than there - There are things to say about Microsoft outlook over internet mail.....) and send some text messages home.
Before logging onto the computer most internet cafe's have you chose a language preference. Same at the Hillsong Conference - however the default was English (Not Aussie Shelia - they really do speak English here - just have funny coloquilisms). I am at this NEW internet cafe' that is chic and serves Coffee (flat white, straight, cappie, skinny or fat). The log on gave me these options - Korean, Japaneese, Chineese or English. So - I jokingly asked the Internet Cafe' waiter if it was Cantoneese of Mandarin. (Like it made a difference to me - I just has a horrible flash to my Japaneese film subtitle choices....) So the guys is stumped. No clue. He is on the way to the manager to find out - cause obviously this red headed pale obviously american speaking customer needs to know if it's Mandarin or Cantoneese. I felt horrible. Apparently no one knew and this concerned them.
After trying to explain it was no big deal I was just curious - I log on. I logged on in ENGLISH. EVERYTHING - EVERYTHING - was in Chinese. I know four characters in Chinese - Love, Faith and Hope (on MY LOWER BACK NAT - not my booty) - and Grace (soon to be on my shoulder blade). This did me no good. I couldn't get to my email - for lack of understanding the text. HOWEVER I was able to post to my blog. I SAVED it as a draft - and I am going to post it before this one. I had to make sure what I was posting made sense right? ha ha.... The manager couldn't even get it to go to English. I guess I deserved it after the ruckus I made..... : )
