Funny things I have noticed.......
Gday again from Downunder!!!!!!!!
I am excited!!!!! We are having a blast.....But I have noticed some funny things (and IF I had the camera Norm......) I could post some of the odd pictures I have taken.
First off - Coffee here is ESPRESSO. You can get Flat White (Espresso w a touch of milk), Cappucino (espresso w steamed milk and froth - cocoa on top) and Espresso. Coffee is brewed fresh per cup. So sweet. I have become a junkie. Starbucks - is occasionally distributed around HOWEVER - I am in love w the Espresso Cafe's and may boycott the green crack house on every corner in Chicago when I return. : )
Secondly - Everyone here is sooooooo laid back and nice. There are no rushes... things just happen... there are NO worries.... (for the most part) and it's entirely a different atmosphere. If we were not on information overload we would probably have to be peeled off the cafe' lounge... We need to get into the mode of "VACATION" and slow down as well.... (oooopse it's holiday here!)
Thirdly - EVERYTHING IS IN THE METRIC SYSTEM!!!!! I LOVE IT! I made the humorous error telling a nice lady on the train to our hotel - when she inquired about the weather in Chicago - that it was 90 degrees! Her eyes got real big and said "REALLY oh MY" I quickly looked at her and said - oh - I mean - that would be about - 35 to 38 degrees here??? She immediately had color return to her face and said - "oh - that's quite balmy isn't it...." (oopse)
Sydney is so clean... it's like fall here - actually a cross between fall and spring. Crisp air like fall, sunny like spring, breezy like fall, life blooming like spring. THERE ARE PALM TREES HERE. I haven't seen a palm tree since I moved away from Florida!
Okay - enuf for now.... back to doing things.....
Natalie and Rowan - I MISS YOU!!!! (And so does dad!!! he's off with the camera somewhere..... Ro - you do need to be bathed in sunscreen - my face is feeling a bit tight - and I have worn sunscreen ad naseum here....) HUGS AND KISSES!!!!!! Behave and mind grammie and grampie!
