SB Journaling Blog Challenge 2.03.06 (2Peas)
The Soundtrack of Your Life: (This is the theme of my circle journal!!!)
Think back to songs from your past. Not just songs you heard on the radio, but even TV themes and commercial jingles. What songs are instant time capsules for you? What does it remind you of? What do you remember about that period of time? How did you feel?
Music can often bring us back, to simpler times, to wonderful memories, to not-so-wonderful memories. Share your thoughts. Make a mini-album or layout all about THE SOUNDTRACK OF YOUR LIFE. What a great album idea, don't you think? (Now I want to go and do a layout for my ME book to the girls!
Not just songs you heard on the radio, but even TV themes and commercial jingles. I was just thinking of this the other day....

And - if I was on a deserted island somewhere (LOST) if my IPOD didn't have these tunes I would die the first day!!!!! (I am sure with that underground whatever it is - there would be some place for me to plug in my Ipod!)

Not just songs you heard on the radio, but even TV themes and commercial jingles. I was just thinking of this the other day....
- The Facts of Life (what pre-teen didn't relate to this show in a BIG way!!!)
- The Waltons (come on - who hasn't wanted to scream out "Good night Johnboy" when they hear this theme.... it was a security show for me growing up.)
- ER (hiding behind my computer screen - it's very catchy don't you think.... you know when you hear it the trauma bay doors are going to come crashing open with some poor sap who is near death only to be saved by the heroic and handsome doctors at the unrealistic ED somewhere in Chicago. So makes me Thank God there is a play on my life as a ER nurse.)
- Charmed (you have no idea how many times I wished I could just ZAP people like Piper does..........)
- The old Coca Cola commercials (loved this as a child..... always made me fell like all was well with the world....)
Music can often bring us back, to simpler times, to wonderful memories, to not-so-wonderful memories. Share your thoughts.
- ANYTHING and EVERYTHING by U2 - brings back so many memories of growing up! U2 was BIG BIG BIG when I was growing up. I remember seeing them at the Rathscheller (spelling) at the University of Florida (since then has burned down while was at college there). Bono (and the rest of the band) were so young. (so was I..... illegally so.) The Magnum of Champaigne at the Jacksonville convert he passed out to those privelaged in the first rows.... His political rebellion from the beginning.... Bringing out the activist in my heart - and still does.... Takes me back to my formative years as a teenager..... Running into Bono at a Make A Wish Function..... (my lil claim to fame)
- Depeche Mode/Erasure/New Order/Cure/Vince Clark/Martin Gore (need I go on) - reminds me how God had his hands on me even when I wasn't interested.... This generation of music spawned the most rebellious nature in me. I was literally a DM groupe'. I think I must have seen 5 or 6 concerts in a row of them at one point in the 80's. Bar scenes (eeeeeeek) just to dance every Friday/Saturday and Sunday night. I was just a hop and skip from early destruction.....
- Jimmy Buffet - ANYTHING by this guy to this day reminds me of days on the beach, growing up, volley ball, fun times, sun screen (very pale I am), skipping high school after lunch (our HS was on the Beach), spring break college students, driving on the beach.....
- 80's music - mostly good times had by all.... there isn't a song I don't hear on the flash back at lunch, VH1 party or movie (Wedding Singer???) that doesn't bring back a flood of mullet/winged hair dos, flash dance shirts (I walked by EXP yesterday and saw this look), and leg warmers.... It's all good...... (even the bad.... it was all good!)
- ENYA - reminds me of my nights staring at the sky, sitting in front of a fire, curled up.... alone.... content.... peaceful......
- The sound track to Grease - Reminds me of a time in my life I wanted to be older. I was just starting junior high (that fall) and so badly wanted to see this "TEEN" Movie. I wanted the Olivia Newton John look at the end of the movie as well. The hair, the pants, the shirt..... all of it!
- Anything by Petra - Reminds me of my Youth Alive and Young Life days... til I went to college and fell off and became of the world....
- Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler) - totally describes me inside. Now and then. At some of my low points - this song is there.....
- In Your Eyes (Peter Gabriel's version ONLY) - totally descibes who I want to be!
- BAD by U2 - when I am feeling politically motivated, activated, in motion......
- I want to break free by Queen - ALL THE TIME!!!! When I hear this song I want to start dancing, arms wide open, piroetting (sp) down the hall way at work, in the store, the sidewalk, at home... you name it! (Let me just say that Freddie Mercury was one of the MOST if not THE MOST talented singers and song writers of our time. Born in India and transplanted to England, his death was a tragedy in SO MANY WAYS.)
- Can't Help Falling in Love with You - Elvis (and Bono) just describes how love should be. It was my dream growing up that this is how one falls in love (ever since I was Natalie's age)
- She - by Elvis Costello - always brings tears.....
- Good Riddance (time of your life) by Green Day (maybe it's because of ER - but in reality it's the song...) Reminds me of all the patients whom I have taken care of that have passed on....... Very sad song for me.....
- Shout to the Lord by Darlene Zschech - reminds me of the most lowest point in my life and how I never want to return there....
- Days of Elijah - a defining moment in my return to my spiritual walk with God.
- Change Your World by Darlene Zschech motivates me......
- UP! by Shannai Twain Invigorates me
- Walk On by U2 - Reminds me that it's not about me.....
- Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash (since I was a kid I have always LOVED this song... my mom was a big Country person) Reminds me of all my bad behavior then and now..... All the mischevious things I did as a kid and not as a kid...... Brings back a flood of memories that always lift my spirits and make me laugh.....
- Somewhere Over the Rainbow/It's a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Reminds me of Innocence lost. Reminds me of my girls as babies. Reminds me of having a baby. Reminds me of being a mom and how much I love it!
The Soundtrack of my life.........
And - if I was on a deserted island somewhere (LOST) if my IPOD didn't have these tunes I would die the first day!!!!! (I am sure with that underground whatever it is - there would be some place for me to plug in my Ipod!)
