Look at your first batch of layouts, afterward look at your latest layouts. How are they different in your eyes? How have your grown as a scrapbooker? Would you re-do/update your older pages?
Oooooooooh how did this hurt......
So - I knew this, I knew it for a long time. I started scrapping when Natalie was born. That was EIGHT years ago. Now I know there are others out there who have been scrapping longer. I started scrapping and then stopped when she turned two. EEEEEK. I just didn't have the time.
I dabbled in it over the next four years, getting hung up in CM - and having fun - but never took off with it.
When I moved to Chicago I moved close to my FAVORITE ALL TIME LSS. I went in there a little over a year ago to start making Christmas cards. The store was SO AWESOME that I got hooked again on scrapbooking. Within a few months I was taking classes, completing layouts and albums galore. Trust me - if it wasn't for my
LSS - Windy City Scrapbooking- I would not even be blogging about scrapbooking.
So - when I got hooked back up into scrapbooking I started to organize my scrapbooks. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK, Oh Mi Gosh, you have got to be kidding, what the??? Was what you heard. I am so embarrassed by my first pages. Very primative, blocks, circles, pastels, solid colors or pretty pathetic patterned paper. NO embellishments, very little journaling and (I am so embarrassed I am mentioning this....) I CUT OUT MY PICTURES. You know like around people, plants, furniture, babies... eeeeek.
I choose NOT to post pictures of my primative layouts.
Now - the difference between my layouts from a year ago and now are drastically different as well. I have probably scrapped more in the last year than I did in the first eight. I started out very basic, little embellishments, no altering, no ink, no paint, no out there patterned paper and very little journalling. NOW - I see ink, tearing, crumpling, rippin, journaling, embossing, UTEE, stamping, altered letters, altered journaling, wacky patterned paper, VIVID colors and one picture layouts. Yes, one picture layouts. When I first started scrapbooking again I thought several pictures had to go on a page... Not anymore. I am happy with one big photo and maybe a couple of smaller photos that relate or none at all.....
I also got out of the 12x12 box. I can make 8x8, 6x6, 5x7, 4x4, 2x2 or whatever I want for an album. I LOVE making albums - especially albums of different sizes.
Chipboard has also become integrated into my layouts.
I can't wait to see how I grow in the next year....

Wow, I've yet to try some of the things you use. I think I need to have my hand held to use things like UTEE and can you believe - bottlecaps. I was always turned off of scrapbooking because of CM, and then I learned of the LSS - oh my, I was in heaven! :D I love the way you wrote your journey of scrapbooking from 8 years ago.
April
wow! Thanks for playing. I enjoy reading how you've changed throughout time. It's amazing. I won't post one of my earier layouts either. I'll be too embarrassed.
